History of the buildings of the University of Szczecin to 1945 The monograph focuses on the history of 17 buildings, built before 1945, located in Szczecin. All of them are currently owned by the University of Szczecin. Chronologically, the scope of the work covers the period from the mid-1860s to 1945. In that time all pre-war buildings, currently used by the University, were built. Before World War II those buildings were used as: primary and secondary schools, vocational schools, girls’ schools, facilities of care institutions, private residential houses and barracks buildings. The monograph attempts to present not only the history of the buildings themselves, but also, if possible, the institutions located in them. The work also mentions buildings from before 1945, which the University owns outside the borders of Szczecin. Therefore, the history of the village and manor house in Kulice, the village and palace in Małkocin, and the village and hotel in Pobierowo, are briefly described. The entire work is preceded by an introductory chapter that synthetically presents the territorial development of Szczecin, especially after the decision of the demolition of the fortress in 1873. The monograph includes rich illustrative material, including city plans and designs of individual buildings.
Monografia dotyczy dziejów siedemnastu obiektów położonych na terenie Szczecina, które są obecnie własnością Uniwersytetu Szczecińskiego, a zostały zbudowane przed 1945 rokiem. Chronologicznie zakres pracy obejmuje okres od połowy lat sześćdziesiątych XIX wieku do 1945 roku. W tym czasie powstały wszystkie przedwojenne budynki eksploatowane dziś przez Uniwersytet. Przed II wojną światową były to szkoły średnie, podstawowe, zawodowe, szkoły żeńskie, obiekty instytucji opiekuńczych oraz prywatne domy mieszkalne i budynki koszarowe. W monografii starano się przedstawić nie tylko historię samych obiektów, lecz także – na ile to było możliwe – mieszczących się w nich instytucji. Nie zapomniano również o budynkach sprzed 1945 roku, którymi uczelnia dysponuje poza granicami Szczecina. W pracy znajdują się zatem zwięzłe opisy historii wsi i dworu w Kulicach, wsi i pałacu w Małkocinie oraz wsi i hotelu w Pobierowie. Całość poprzedzono rozdziałem wstępnym ukazującym w sposób syntetyczny rozwój terytorialny Szczecina zwłaszcza po likwidacji szczecińskiej twierdzy w 1873 roku. Monografia została opatrzona bogatym materiałem ilustracyjnym obejmującym zarówno plany miasta, jak i projekty poszczególnych budynków.
