Purpose: This research aims to identify best practices and strategies of intelligent management that can be employed by cities to enhance their efficiency, improve residents' quality of life, and protect the environment. Need for the study: In the face of global challenges (i.e. climate change, urbanisation, and population growth), there is a pressing need to investigate how innovations in city management can contribute to its sustainable development while simultaneously enhancing residents' quality of life. This study addresses this need by bridging theory and practice . Methodology: The study is based on the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data from three cities: Copenhagen, Madrid, and Singapore. A comparative analysis framework is applied to assess how the selected cities implement intelligent urban management for sustainable transformation. Findings: The examination of smart city initiatives underscores that effective political leadership, active engagement of citizens, and innovative financing models (such as public-private partnerships) are integral to the successful incorporation of technology in urban management. Conversely, disparities in resource accessibility among the examined cities underscore the ongoing need for initiatives aimed at social equity. Practical Implications: The findings highlight several key practical implications, including the imperative to reinforce public-private partnerships, which may facilitate the rapid deployment of innovative solutions. Moreover, the engagement of citizens in decision-making processes through participatory platforms emerges as crucial for the effective advancement of smart city initiatives. Finally, the establishment of robust data governance frameworks is essential for safeguarding citizen privacy and fostering trust in urban technologies.
