Abstrakt
Artykuł przybliża postępujące w ostatnich dekadach badania nad historią mobilności i migracji przednowoczesnych. Dzięki coraz bardziej zaawansowanym metodom oraz wykorzystywanym źródłom rozwija się dyskusja nad rzeczywistym poziomem ruchliwości przestrzennej i społecznej dawnych społeczeństw. Interdyscyplinarne podejście do przedmiotu badań, łączenie technik ilościowych i jakościowych dają w rezultacie obraz dość wysokiej mobilności ludzkiej, zwłaszcza w zakresie migracji wewnętrznych i mikromobilności w dawnej Europie. Dla lepszego poznania mechanizmów migracji badania skupiają się na społecznościach lokalnych (wysyłających i przyjmujących migrantów), strategiach migracyjnych, a zwłaszcza rzemieszczeniach wiejsko-miejskich, będących źródłem zmiany społecznej.
