Abstract

Teksty Bertranda Russella dotyczące kwestii mistycyzmu dzielą się na dwie grupy. Pierwsza, obejmująca fragmenty Mysticism and Logic (1914), stanowi krytykę głównych tez filozofii mistycznej zawartych m.in. w pismach Parmenidesa, Spinozy i Hegla. Druga grupa składa się m.in. z fragmentów The Essence of Religion (1912) i zawiera koncepcję niedogmatycznego mistycyzmu jako duchowej postawy wobec świata, określonej specyficznym rodzajem kontemplacji i mistycznych emocji. Niniejszy artykuł stanowi racjonalną rekonstrukcję głównych założeń tej koncepcji, z uwzględnieniem jej filozoficznego kontekstu oraz powiązań ze współczesną psychologią doświadczeń mistycznych (rozwijaną w tradycji W. Jamesa i W. T. Stace’a). Artykuł wnosi nowe spojrzenie na wczesną myśl Russella, ukazując złożoną strukturę oraz filozoficzne i psychologiczne znaczenie jego koncepcji mistycyzmu.
