Abstract

Niniejszy esej jest próbą rozumienia problemu Ocalenia z Zagłady w prozie Philipa Rotha, począwszy od jego Conversion (1958) po Indignation (2008) Ocalenie to temat powracający w powieściach Rotha regularnie i w różnych kontekstach (amerykańskich europejskich, izraelskich), zarazem temat rozproszony. Autor artykułu proponuje szczegółową analizę fabuł Rotha pod tytułowym kątem, zestawia jego wypowiedzi o Zagładzie i Ocaleniu, konfrontuje je ze sobą i interpretuje, pozostając, jeżeli tak można powiedzieć, we wnętrzu tekstu.
