About us

„Przegląd Zachodniopomorski” (West Pomeranian Review) is a yearly (until 2020 a quarterly) published since 1963. Its direct predecessor was a monthly, and then bi-monthly  “Szczecin”, published since 1957. The first Editor-in-Chief of the quarterly was Professor Henryk Lesiński (1963-1985). The journal publishes scientific articles primarily in the field of history, but also of social sciences (sociology, political science). The latter report findings that can support the historical research and are related territorially to West Pomerania and the adjacent lands. The leading language is Polish but also articles in English and German are accepted for publication.

„Przegląd Zachodniopomorski” is divided into three sections: Articles, Reviews, and Memories. The journal has a huge amount of scientific publications to its credit, including hundreds of articles that explored both the ancient history and the present day of Western Pomerania. Thematic issues also were published: historic, economic or sociological. Several volumes were dedicated to the contemporary socio-economic problems and the history of some powiats (Stargard Szczeciński, Kamień Pomorski, Gryfice, Kołobrzeg), as well as to selected big industrial enterprises. Published were also issues containing scientific conferences materials or devoted to the distinguished members of the Szczecin scientific community.
