Abstract

The article attempts to answer the question of whether the extension of the previously generative biolinguistic research agenda to other disciplines and non-generative research trends in linguistics has prospects of success. The subject of the discussion is the hypothesis of the modularity of language/syntax on the one hand as a hypothetical-deductive assumption that can be tested in the sense of Popperian falsificationism. On the other hand, modularity is to be understood as a method for obtaining an answer to the fundamental question of the nature of language. In the article, a proposal is also put forward for solving this problem at the levels of neuronal, algorithmic and computational implementation, based on findings about the visual perception system.
