Purpose: To investigate the role of human capital in enhancing intelligent enterprise management, with a particular focus on how Polish manufacturing companies utilize IT and AI tools to build competitive advantage. Need for the study: As organizations face rapid technological change, understanding the synergy between digital transformation and human capital becomes essential for maintaining competitiveness. Despite growing automation, human competencies continue to be essential for innovation and decision-making. Methodology: The study used data analysis from the CATI and CAWI 365 survey of Polish manufacturing companies. The analysis was structured around the internal and external enterprise conditions, the impact of IT and AI-based systems and tools supporting human capital management and employee development, as well as changes in systems supporting intelligent management in manufacturing enterprises in Poland. Findings: Companies identify internal conditions and workforce competencies as key enablers for IT and AI adoption. Expectations for the growing impact of AI in the next five years are high, particularly in talent management and decision-support systems. The effectiveness of employee development tools (especially AI-based training) is assessed as moderate. Technological maturity and regional disparities influence perceptions and implementation success. Practical Implications: Organizations should prioritize strategic investment in human capital, including AI-integrated training, to foster innovation and adaptability. Policymakers may consider supporting SMEs in their digital transformation journey, especially in underrepresented regions.
