Peer-reviewing Process

Nowa Krytyka / New Critique / publishes the high quality original texts of research in humanities and social science (especially philosophy, sociology and anthropology), as well as reviews, reports and polemics. A particular field of interest for the journal are: critical theory, Marxism, feminism, theory of imperialism and post-colonialism.

Articles prepared for publication in the journal should have the highest scientific reliability, including, above all, a clearly defined goal, raising significant problems in terms of theory or practice, referring to the current literature of the subject and having a clear, logical structure.

Submitted texts are processed in three stages of editorial selection:

The first stage consists in evaluating the conformity of the text with the profile of the Journal, the competence of our reviewers and technical requirements (details in Bookmark ‘For Authors’).

The second stage is reviewing procedure proper, double-blind peer review carried out by two external scholars. The procedure is secret for both parties: the author does not know the surnames of the reviewers, and vice versa.

Submitted texts should be prepared for an anonymous review (without the surname of the author and without references that might disclose their identity).

The review form indicates the criteria to qualify texts for printing: originality, quality of argumentation, completeness of the bibliography, language correctness, etc.

In the third stage the text is accepted for publication by the Editorial Staff, which is based on positive reviews and after making the suggested corrections.

Nowa Krytyka considers all manuscripts on the strict condition that:

  • the manuscript is author’s own original work, and does not duplicate any other previously published work, including author’s own previously published work.
  • the manuscript has been submitted only to Nowa Krytyka; it is not under consideration or peer review or accepted for publication or in press or published elsewhere.
  • the manuscript contains nothing that is abusive, defamatory, libellous, obscene, fraudulent, or illegal.
