Abstract

Road transport is a rapidly developing mode of transport. Ecological vehicles, logistics approach, and intelligent transport systems assist carriers in complying with theincrease of regulations of European Union. Commercial transport is an alternative for own account transport, but also can be used complementarily. Decreasing importance of transport for own account can be observed over the years. The share of commercial and own account transport in Poland at the end of 2013 shapes up, respectively, at 55% and 45%. A trend of decreasing share of transport for own account in meeting the transport needs, and the dynamic growth of the share of transport for hire or reward can be noticed.
