Rozbudowa infrastruktury polskich portów morskich jako warunek rozwoju przewozów intermodalnych w ramach korytarzy sieci bazowej TEN-T

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to identify the importance of the development of seaports infrastructure. This is a precondition for determination of future development of intermodal transport within core TEN-T corridors. Based on the example of the seaport Gdańsk, the article presents assumptions to estimate the handling capacity which is an important factor for the decision making process in planning further development of the port in order to allow for sustainable growth of its competitive position. Adequate capacity of access infrastructure to the seaport, both by water and land has to be ensured, when planning development of seaports as transport corridor incubators. This requires a coordination of infrastructure investment plans by the seaport authorities and seaport operators together with the authorities of road and railway infrastructure.
