Abstract

The article addresses the inclusion of creative texts in discourse research, using the ex-ample of urban space discourse. The analyses fall within the domain of discourse lin-guistics and Michel Foucault's concept of knowledge-power discourse. Selected crea-tive texts (a genre novel, a popular song, and a column) thematically related to Warsaw were examined. Linguistic indicators of discourse, as well as commonalities and differ-ences between the analyzed texts, were identified. The analyses led to conclusions about expanding the category of the discourse subject and perspectives, as reflected in the evolution of urban discourse. Moreover, the research procedure suggests incorporat-ing non-linguistic concepts of discourse into the scope of observation.
