Abstract

According to the registers of University studies in the field of museology and preservation of collections, made by NIMOZ, the museological education at the level of post-graduate studies are run by four academic centres: the Jagiellonian University (Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology), the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin (Institute of Cultural Studies), the Warsaw University (Institute of History of Arts), and the Faculty of History of Arts in Toruń (Institute for the Study and Co nservation of Cultural (Institute of Cultural Studies), the Warsaw University (Institute of History of Arts), and the Faculty of History of Arts in Toruń (Institute for the Study and Co nservation of Cultural Monuments). The post-graduate studies in the sphere of preservation and management of museum collections have been run by the Faculty of Fine Arts of the NCU in Toruń since the 1970s. Museological education has a long tradition at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the NCU in Toruń, because as early as 1946 within its organisational structure the Unit/ Department for the Study and Conservation of Cultural Monuments was created, which in 1969 was transformed into the Unit/Department for Conservation and Museology. In 1972 Kazimierz Malinowski together with Wojciech Gluziński initiated a Post-Graduate Museological Studies it functioned till 1980. Afterwards the NCU in Toruń ran several museological studies, and in the academic year 1999/2000 it set up the Post-Graduate Museological Studies again.
