Abstract

On 8 April 2025, a nationwide scientific conference entitled ‘Legal and political aspects of civil partnerships in Poland’ was held. It was organised by the Gender and Constitution in Poland Research Team operating at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Szczecin, under the supervision of Dr Agnieszka Bień-Kacała, professor at the University of Szczecin, in cooperation with the Institute of Political and Security Sciences at the University of Szczecin. The event was part of the celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Szczecin, and was also in line with the highly topical public debate on the draft law on civil partnerships, which was at the consultation stage at the time. The topicality of the proposed conference theme stemmed from the fact that academic reflection was taking place in parallel with an intense political debate on the shape of future legal solutions, which gave the conference not only a theoretical but also a practical dimension. The proceedings were planned as three discussion panels.
