Abstract

In this article author discusses the importance of copyright in the online society. The main purpose of the article is to determine the importance of copyright in the relationships to online society. In the article the major part of the discussion concerns the idea of bipolarity of copyright institutions. The bipolarity means, on the one hand, protect of the interests of authors, and, on the other, counteracts the rise of copyright monopolies. In article author tries to verify the hypothesis that the idea of bipolarity of copyright corresponds to the needs of the online society, but the formal copyright institution does not have as much authority in the social consciousness as the institution of material property rights. The research method of the article is deductive. The reflections were based on the analysis of the idea of copyright and the size, scope and content of Internet traffic.
