Abstract
The paper presents the survey of learning abilities and habits, conductedamong pedagogy students at the University of Łódź. The results are presented inthe light of contemporary knowledge on learning, that is regarded as a compoundprocess, composed of three elements: cognition, emotions and motivation. Theauthor analyses the methods in which students learn and reasons of their possibleeducational failures. From there the reflection on contemporary didacticsin high schools and the need for change is provided. The connections betweenproblems in students’ learning and changes in contemporary world in the rangeof technology, economy, job market and educational system, are emphasized.
