Abstrakt

More like a manifesto than a regular paper, this article diagnoses the situation of literary criticism in the era of digitalization, when the aim of research is studying corpora of 200 000 novels with the use of algorithms. Reading is not in dispensable to the understanding of literature any more, proclaims the author. Yet computational criticism also has its limitations – and they are thoroughly discussed here.
