Abstract

The aim of this paper is to characterize the Polish consumers’ attitudes towards major behaviours representing collaborative consumption, i.e. borrowing, sharing, donating things, as well as purchase and resale of the second-hand goods. On this basis we try to answer the question whether this growing Western trend has a chance for a similar popularity in Poland. In the study we use the results of a survey conducted in 2013 on a convenience sample consisting of 400 adult consumers. The data show that respondents, particularly younger and better educated, have fairly favourable attitude towards the analysed activities. This does not mean, however, that popularization of the sharing economy in Poland is certain.
