Abstract

Intensive influx of people into cities has already accelerated the intensified process of global urbanization and poses challenges to the managers in order to balance the flow of population, goods and information, while ensuring the safety of the population. The aim of the paper is to present the determinants of public transport in Gdańsk in the light of the need to sustainable development of modern agglomerations. The article, based on available source literature and obtained data, presents in the first part urban development in terms of the need to balance urban mobility. The second part of the publication presents the results of the survey conducted. The following research hypothesis has been made: public transport in Gdansk is functioning at a good level. This is an optimistic forecast in the context of striving to sustain urban development
