Abstract
The paper presents the subject and the manifestations as well as a general assessment of the consequences of ecological (environmental) disasters, mainly from the perspective of climatic changes. The authors commence with the presentation of the types of disasters and the classification of ecological catastrophes and the ways of their classification from the angle of economic consequences. Further in the paper, they discuss the impact of climatic changes on water management and the trends apparent in this area, also in Poland. In conclusion, they characterize the principles of prevention of ecological catastrophes and liquidation of their consequences.
