Abstract

The competencies of enterprises as a combination of capabilities, skills, knowledge and technologies enable creating unique and hard to copy tools that allow entities to compete on the market. However, due to its variable, dynamic nature and the ability to copy competences in the long term by competitors, they must be constantly developed. The goal of research was to identified the competencies of enterprises that require development processes. The research carried out using the survey method and direct interview on a sample of 162 entities located in Poland and operating in one of the sectors of industrial processing. The study presents the results of the empirical research, in which entrepreneurs assessed the degree of development needs of individual competences in industrial processing enterprises. The obtained empirical material has been subjected to a factor analysis, which allows the reduction of variables and on the basis of which the factors that explain the analyzed research problem in a significant way are distinguished. Based on empirical research, it can be concluded that that industrial processing enterprises first recognize the need to develop the competencies of enterprises that will affect both the image of the company in the industry and the market.
